Organization: Bronx Independent Living Services (BILS) is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to empowering all people with disabilities to understand and exercise their civil and human rights in order to live fully integrated lives in mainstream society. BILS assists individuals by providing them the necessary tools to make informed decisions about their own lives through access to education, skills development, and access to the appropriate resources. On a systemic level, BILS is committed to facilitating social, economic, and civic change by advocating for the removal of architectural, communication, and attitudinal barriers that have limited the disabled community for far too long.

Position: Fiscal Manager. This is a part-time, 15 hour per week position. Compensation between $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Fiscal Manager will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for assisting in managing all agency financial functions, including grant-related accounts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare required grant vouchers and backup documentation for submission to funding sources
  • Assist with grant-related subcontractor accounts
  • Responsible for accounts payable and receivable
  • Responsible for generating grant-related financial reports as needed
  • Assist in preparation for the annual agency audit
  • Financial and programmatic record keeping 
  • Other duties as specified by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Workplace fiscal experience, preferably within a non-profit organization
  • Fluency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience managing databases / data systems
  • Experience with online bill paying programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with the concepts of IL, consumer control, and equal rights for persons with disabilities preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Preference will be given to individuals with personal experience with a disability
