Join the New York Association on Independent Living (NYAIL) and over 400 advocates, individuals with disabilities, families, service providers, and independent living center staff, for three days featuring the latest issues in independent living and perspectives on the future.
The last NYAIL conference was held in the Fall of 2019, only a few months before COVID-19 hit New York with brutal force. The pandemic reshaped all of our lives and in turn, brought new challenges to the life saving and life changing work of independent living. We tragically lost thousands of disabled New Yorkers in nursing homes and other congregate care settings, but this also exposed the dangers inherent in these institutions to the rest of society.
This year’s theme honors the resiliency in our community and demands reinvention in our existing systems. During this conference, we will reflect on the many lessons the pandemic has to teach us and refocus on how we can come together to change the future.
Over the course of the conference, we will present relevant and informative workshops, new vendors in our field of service and influential keynote speakers.
