NYAIL’s membership is comprised of New York’s Independent Living Centers (ILCs). ILCs are non-residential, community-based not-for-profit organizations providing advocacy, supports and services to assist people with disabilities of all ages to live independently in the community. ILCs are peer-led with the majority of board of directors and staff comprised of persons with disabilities.

Why are ILCs essential?

ILCs serve individuals of all ages and with all types of disabilities.
In 2019, the State’s network of Independent Living Centers provided direct services to
